An effective compliance programme encourages reporting of wrongdoing through whistleblower protection and hotlines. But what companies do with those reports is crucial to establishing trust in the compliance programme and strong tone from the top. Moreover, an effective investigation and response can lead to fair and transparent disciplinary measures that reinforce key messages. This session will discuss how to conduct an effective internal investigation from setting the size of an investigative scope, developing a workplan, and most importantly conducting effective interviews of witnesses and subjects. The session will also discuss which stakeholders should be involved, and how to involve those stakeholders while maintaining independence and confidentiality.
